Lately, it seems that we are over doing things.
We are over writing, over strategizing, over thinking, over promoting and over promising.
Talk about being paralyzed: before you write anything you must strategize it to death, then over think the messages and then over write it and then everyone and their dog over edits it, so that at the end of the day you can’t even remember the rationale and strategy that went into what you were writing in the first place.
How about we start giving ourselves deadlines?
“I am going to spend no more than seven hours on developing an event brief and then I am going to spend no more than 20 hours over the next two weeks planning it.”
Why be so specific? Because somethings are just worth that much time. No more. No less.
If you need to over strategize anything, maybe your message is overly complicated and it’s not going to be understood anyway.
